How We Look After Your Information
This page is for children under 13. It explains what TutorStudio knows about you and how we keep it safe.
You might want to read this with a grown-up.
Who are we?
We are TutorStudio. We make a website that helps you learn with a tutor. Your mum, dad, or the grown-up who looks after you set up your account for you.
What do we know about you?
We know a few things about you because your grown-up told us:
- Your first name
- How old you are
- What subjects you are learning
When you have a lesson, we also keep notes about what you learned. Your tutor writes these so you and your grown-up can see how you are doing.
Why do we need this?
We use this information to help you learn. That is it. We do not use it to show you adverts or sell it to anyone else.
Who can see your information?
- Your grown-up (mum, dad, or guardian) can see everything
- Your tutor can see your name, your age, and what you are learning
- Nobody else can see your information unless the law says we have to share it (for example, to keep you safe)
How do we keep it safe?
We lock your information away using special computer tools called encryption. Think of it like a secret code that only we can read. We keep our computers in safe places and only let the right people see your information.
What choices do you have?
Your grown-up can ask us to show them all the information we have about you. They can also ask us to delete it. If your grown-up asks us to delete your information, we will — unless we have to keep it because the law says so.
What about recordings and clever computer tools?
Sometimes lessons can be recorded (like a video). This is turned off unless your grown-up says it is okay.
We also have some clever computer tools (called AI) that can write a short summary of your lesson. These are also turned off unless your grown-up says it is okay.
Your grown-up is always in charge of these choices.
What if something worries you?
If anything on TutorStudio makes you feel worried, scared, or upset, tell a grown-up you trust straight away. You can also:
- Press the "Report a concern" button on any page
- Call Childline on 0800 1111 — it is free and private
